FOR HEALTH

In October 2015 the World Health Organisation (WHO) classified processed meat as a Group 1 carcinogenic, with red meat classified as Group 2A. The WHO stated that many national health recommendations advise people to limit intake of meat, linked to increased risks of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and other illnesses.

FOR THE PLANET

Animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, species extinction, habitat loss, ocean dead zones and greenhouse gas emissions.

AND MOSTLY… FOR THE ANIMALS

The Food Standards Agency reported over 4000 breaches of animal welfare regulations in the UK in the last two years. With animals being boiled alived, beaten and suffocated to death. But that’s just on top of what happens as ‘standard’. In the egg industry, baby male chicks are ground up alive on day one of their life because they are a ‘waste product’. Pigs scream and are burned from the inside out when killed by the most ‘humane’ method of gassing. Baby calves are taken from their mothers within 12 hours of being born so humans can take her milk, and then forcibly impregnate her over and over so that she stays pregnant and continues producing milk for humans to drink. She’ll cry out for her stolen babies for weeks. Her baby male calves are shot. When her body is exhausted from continual pregnancy she’ll collapse and also be shot, at just a quarter of her natural life and then sent to the slaughterhouse to become meat. Her daughters will endure the same suffering she had. And so it goes on…
